In recent months, the reality of winter has been thrust upon us earlier than expected. A cold snap hit the eastern part of the country in early December, pushing Montréal to activate its emergency measures and open new warming centres. In this context, our teams intensified their efforts to offer meaningful and innovative solutions to people experiencing homelessness.
Early last month, we launched a second mobile clinic that now travels the streets of Montréal to reach members of the homeless population where they are. The clinic offers a multitude of services, including basic health care and administrative support. On the site of the former Hippodrome, the Old Brewery Mission now houses some 30 residents in a modular housing project launched by the City of Montréal. And we are continuing to speak loud and clear in the media to highlight the scope of the current situation and get things moving.

These last few weeks have reminded us of the urgent need to act, but not just in winter. Because homelessness is with us 365 days a year, let us continue to offer sustainable solutions to the most vulnerable among us.
We hope you enjoy this issue!

LAUNCH OF THE SECOND MOBILE CLINIC
In early December, we launched a second mobile clinic that makes the rounds of the streets of Montréal and offers support to the homeless population directly where they are.
The initiative, powered by TELUS Santé, has enabled us to double the number of sites visited every week, offer health care and harm reduction services, and support people in their efforts to access housing and administrative services.

AN ONLINE STORE TO BREAK THE CYCLE OF HOMELESSNESS
This winter, the Old Brewery Mission launched a mock online store, a creative concept upending the codes of e-commerce for a good cause. Each "purchase" on the platform corresponds not to a product but to a genuine donation that supports people experiencing homelessness.

In the face of the tsunami effect homelessness has, the Old Brewery Mission is acting before things get to the tipping point. How to prevent rather than cure? TEMPORARY HOUSING FOR PEOPLE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS
On the site of the Hippodrome, modular homes with support services are now housing some 30 formerly homeless people. The project, led by the City of Montréal and the Old Brewery Mission, offers them a roof over their heads and the chance to start again.

Robert, one of the first residents, tells his story in this report from Rad.

COLD SNAP: EMERGENCY MEASURES TRIGGERED BY THE CITY OF MONTRÉAL
In early December, a cold snap descended over the eastern part of the country before winter had even officially begun. To support people experiencing homelessness, the City of Montréal activated its emergency measures, most prominently with the opening of 400 places in warming centres.

Émilie Fortier, Vice-President of Services at the Old Brewery Mission, was invited to speak on
ICI RDI to discuss the issues and the solutions brought in.
